The country of Bhutan sits on the eastern end of the Himalayan Mountains. It uses an annual Gross National Happiness [GNH] scale rather than a Gross Domestic Product [GDP] scale to measure the wealth of their citizens and their country. What do you think about the idea of measuring the wealth of Americans in terms of happiness rather than dollars?

Consider a scale of 1 to 10. Let “10” mean “fabulously rich in happiness” and let “1” mean “absolute poverty in happiness”. For 2012, what GHN number would you assign to Americans?
